A Personal Note From Leija
Full transparency: I'm single. And I've made peace with a theory about why.
I think my person is probably a cornball.
Not in a bad way — in the best way. The kind who has a whole unprompted monologue ready about something oddly specific, who has never once taken a good photo in his life, who is a lot more interesting once you're actually sitting across from him than he'll ever be in a thumbnail. Dating apps were not built for people like that. They reward the two-second decision, the good lighting, the effortless-looking effortless. Cornballs don't perform well in three seconds. They perform well over a whole conversation. A whole evening. A whole life.
I could have swiped past my future husband a hundred times over a bad photo. So could you. So could anyone.
That's not just something I joke about at parties — it's actually the reason this company doesn't lead with photos. If the conversation and the room already know we're compatible, I don't need a great picture to give someone a real shot. I just need one honest evening in the same space.
I built this because I wanted that evening for myself, too. This isn't a company I'm running from the outside looking in — I'm looking for my person the same way everyone using this is. I just also happen to be building the room where we might find each other. That felt like something worth putting some real effort into.
The Bigger Mission
This was never really a matchmaking business. Dating is where it starts, but it isn't where it ends.
Healthy couples build healthy families. Healthy families strengthen communities. A community that has lost its natural infrastructure for connection needs someone to rebuild it — intentionally, thoughtfully, and with real care for the people involved. That's what this is: strengthening community through healthy relationships, one honest introduction at a time.
